What is the difference between hazardous waste and industrial waste?
Industrial waste is generated through industrial activities, but not all industrial waste is hazardous. Hazardous waste requires specialised handling, transport and disposal because of its potential risks.
Who is responsible for classifying hazardous waste?
In NSW, the waste generator—the business or organisation that produces the waste—is ultimately responsible for ensuring the waste is correctly classified before it is transported, treated or disposed of. Correct classification is essential to determine how the waste must be handled, stored and managed in accordance with NSW environmental requirements.
Where the classification is uncertain, specialist hazardous waste consultants can assist by reviewing the waste's origin, composition and available information, and where required, arranging laboratory testing to accurately determine the appropriate waste classification.

What’s the difference between hazardous, liquid, and restricted waste?

Who transports the waste from my site, who manages the process, and what happens to it afterwards?
From the moment your waste is collected, CleanEra manages the entire process to ensure it is handled safely, compliantly and efficiently. As a fully licensed hazardous and controlled licensed transporter in NSW, our experienced team collects the waste from your site using specialised vehicles and equipment designed for the safe transport of hazardous materials.
Before transport, we ensure the waste has been correctly identified and classified, and that all required NSW EPA waste tracking documentation has been completed. Once collected, your waste is transported directly to our licensed waste and resource recovery facility located in Mt Thorley, Singleton NSW.
Throughout the process, CleanEra maintains full control of your waste stream, providing compliant handling, transport and documentation to give you confidence that your waste has been managed responsibly and in accordance with NSW EPA requirements.

Where is your location and why operate from there?
Mt Thorley in the Hunter Valley is a dedicated heavy industrial zone with serious infrastructure around safety, traffic flow, noise and environment factors. Our CleanEra facility is fully licenced under the Protection of the Environment Operations Act (EPA) as both a waste and resource recovery facility. Our unique location in NSW outside of the Sydney Metro means we have abilities to accept waste streams from QLD and VIC also.
